Pigs in a Book

At long last, the other dabbler of this long junket is posting! I'm sure you've all been waiting for me, my imaginary followers.

School is now finally out though I cannot say the same for Elena. I'm sure for many others school is still in session and I am sorry that you are not me taking a vacation. Truly I am.

I finally took some pictures of a book I had to make in the beginning of the year. Our project was to make 100 little squares relating to one topic and mine was: PIGS.

The cover's made of soft cotton cloth with cut out piggies. You can see where I put the cut out pigs in the second picture. That's supposed to be the inside cover. The book cover is sealed by buttons at the top of the book so the cover's more like a wrap around. Like a burrito. Like a pork filled burrito.

Onto the squares!

For many I used collages. I had a 10001 magazines in a storage called an overstuffed closet. It was either collages or drawing pigs all over the place.

One other technique I really like doing is to drop a bit of coffee or tea and stain a picture or just regular watercolor paper. The result is a grand explosion of abstract and for the toppings, I added a drawing of whatever I saw in that apbstract splash. Of course the drawing is related with pigs. And yes, I just spelled "abstract" wrong.
This technique is actually pretty popular because it's easy to do and always looks nice without looking the same each time. You should try it. Now.

Music, photos and dreams for the summer

Aliana's out of school, but I still have one final left to go. I cannot wait to go, but I am not excited to pack up my stuff and get it into my car, Granny Pearl. I don't know if she'll be able to handle it all.

Besides that, I've been taking the free time before my final to work on my photography and film skills.

My friend, Chelsea, and I recently one "Best Short" at a film festival held at our school. It can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byotkgJ9bjM

I also got the idea from my friend, Allie, to make stop-motion films from different things that happen in my day.
Here is "Bubbles":

I like this one better. It's called "The Rhythm of My Day": http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenadeviphotos/4610093397/
The sound cuts off early on that one and it bothers me. It only does that on flickr.

While I have you on flickr, you should check out my photos. I have decided to extend my photo month to the entire year. Some days are easier to photograph than others, but I am doing my best.

Now that you're tired from running around to the different links I've posted, here's some stuff I've been thinking about.

I've always wanted to take awesome pictures in the rain, but I could never get things right so that the rain drops are actually visible in the photo. Today is the first rainy day in forever and I have decreed it as the first day of summer. There were just three different rainstorms in ten minutes. When the next one comes, I'm hurrying out to take photos. I rigged up a sort of umbrella for my camera, so I hope that works.

Working on my films has made me realized how little music I know that really fits the style I'm slowly developing. I will spend a lot of time on Pandora in the upcoming weeks researching great sounds. I am always open to suggestions.

I have a lot of fun, creative things on my summer "todo" list (it's "todo" because it's "everything" I have "to do"), so I'm sure I will be posting more fun things throughout the next two months.

I vote Aliana posts something. Just sayin'.
